About the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic, or Czechia, is a central European country bordered by Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia. Geographically divided into 8 regions, the country is known for its mountains and valleys, spa towns, heritage sites, national parks, and, of course, its beer.
Have a glass of beer (or two) with a hearty Czech meal made from local ingredients. Traditional dishes include Svíčková na smetaně (beef sirloin with cream sauce), guláš (goulash), knedlíky (dumplings), and zelí (sauerkraut). For dessert, ask your waiter for koláče or head to the nearest bakery to buy some for later.
